Food sovereignty to guarantee the future of humanity

CETIM was present at the 8th International Conference of La Via Campesina in Bogota, Colombia (December 2023). It was a historic moment of unity, exchange and articulation in the context of a complex international conjoncture, particularly for peasant and rural struggles. The challenges we face on a daily basis are countless: in particular, the aggressive strategy of the agribusiness sector against any form of social justice in rural areas, aiming for ever greater profit maximisation, not to mention the rise of (neo)fascist movements and parties around the world, as well as the intensification of imperialist wars. However, thanks to La Via Campesina’s common and shared vision, based on international solidarity, its relentless fight for food sovereignty and peasants’ rights remains unshakeable, as does CETIM’s commitment at its side.
