CETIM has denounced regional free trade agreements for more than 20 years. Like Alfred de Zayas, CETIM welcomes Ecuador which has unilaterally withdrew from its latest bilateral investment agreements.
Alfred de Zayas is an independent expert for the promotion of a democratic and equitable international
order at the UN. On the Office of the high Commissioner website de Zayas welcomes the Government of Ecuador in an article written. The country unilaterally withdrew from its last 16 bilateral investment agreements. It thus puts an end to the 26 agreements signed since 1968.
