CETIM supports the call issued by our partners from La Via Campesina
for mobilization against the World Trade Organization (WTO)
from 26 to 29 February 2024
in the framework of the 13th Ministerial meeting of this international organization to be held in the United Arab Emirates.
CETIM has been denouncing the agreements promoted by the WTO, which has to be seen as one of the main pillars of the current dominant predatory trading system that contribute to impoverish the rural areas and violate peasants’ rights.
That is why the WTO should not interfere in agricultural policies. In the face with multiple global crises, it is urgent to build a trade framework based on the principles of social justice and food sovereignty for all peoples.
